- Bus is the most popular transportation mode among tourists to reach Kuala Besut Jetty. The cheapest and most convenient transport to Kuala Besut Jetty. From there, continue by boat to Perhentian Island.
- There are a few bus operators provide services from cities and towns across Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore to Kuala Besut Station or Jerteh (the nearest towns to Kuala Besut Jetty). Below are a few suggestions routes, how to plan your journey by bus.

- Option 1: From Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Besut Jetty
- From Kuala Lumpur, choose any buses straight to Kuala Besut Station. From there, walk about 800m to Kuala Besut Jetty. This is the best option which takes about 8 hours journey from Kuala Lumpur. A few bus providers operate on this route. Among them are Mahligai Express, Mutiara Express and Transnasional.
- Option 2: From Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Besut Jetty (via Jerteh)
- From Kuala Lumpur direct to Jerteh. From there, continue your journey to Kuala Besut Jetty by taxi (takes about 20 minutes journey). A few bus operators on this route such as Transnasional and Perdana.
- From Singapore to Kuala Besut Jetty
- From Singapore to Kuala Besut (via Kuala Lumpur)
- There is no direct bus services from Singapore to Kuala Besut Jetty. Therefore, from Singapore, go to Kuala Lumpur and then from Kuala Lumpur go to Kuala Besut Station. From there, walk to Kuala Besut Jetty with estimated distance 800m.
- From Penang to Kuala Besut Jetty
- Option 1: From Penang to Kuala Besut to Kuala Besut Jetty
- From Penang, choose any buses straight to Kuala Besut. A few bus operators operate on this route including Cekap Express. From Kuala Besut Bus Station walk 800m to Kuala Besut Jetty
- Option 2: From Penang to Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Besut to Kuala Besut Jetty
- From Penang go to Kuala Lumpur. Then continue your journey from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Besut. From the bus station, walk 800m to Kuala Besut Jetty.
- From Kota Bharu to Kuala Besut Jetty
- Option 1: From Kota Bharu to Kuala Besut
- From Kota Bharu, choose any services straight to Kuala Besut. A few bus operators operate on this route including Cekap Express and Transnasional. From Kuala Besut station, walk to Kuala Besut Jetty.
- Option 2: From Kota Bharu to Jerteh to Kuala Besut Jetty
- From Kota Bharu go to Jerteh. From jerteh, you need to take a taxi to Kuala Besut Jetty, with estimated 20 min journey.
- From Kuala Terengganu to Jerteh to Kuala Besut Jetty
- From Kuala Terengganu, go to Jerteh. From there take taxi to Kuala Besut Jetty to Kuala Besut Jetty with estimated 20 min journey.

- From Kuala Besut Jetty, continue your journey by boat to Pulau Perhentians. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes by speed boat and 1 hr 30 min by cargo boat. The services are available between 9:00am to 5:00pm with no fixed departure time. (Some service providers depart in every an hour).
- The boats embark once, there are sufficient number of passengers on board. The boat take you directly to your destination on the island. The return boats from Pulau Perhentian to Kuala Besut Jetty are scheduled three (3) times a day. The boats depart from the island at 8:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 4:00 pm every day.
